INFORMATION FOR NEW FACULTY:
The accreditation of permanent and collaborating faculty members is carried out through a public notice issued by the Program and approved by the Center for Engineering and Exact Sciences of the Foz do Iguaçu Campus. The accreditation of permanent, collaborating, volunteer and visiting faculty members is carried out by the Program Board, approved by the Center Council and forwarded to the PRPPG for registration and monitoring. Retired faculty members may be accredited to work in the Program.

The following are required of the candidate for accreditation:

 I - a doctorate in the area of ​​the Program or related areas;

II - an updated Lattes CV;

III - an updated registration of the researcher residing in Brazil, in a research group of any education or research institution, registered in the CNPq Research Groups Directory;

IV - a term of commitment in which the candidate undertakes to provide information for filling out the annual report of the Capes Data Collection;

V - knowledge and consent of the Directorate of the Center where the interested teacher is assigned, or in the case of a teacher external to Unioeste, knowledge and consent of the institution to which he/she is affiliated or his/her immediate supervisor, and a signed agreement specifying that it will not generate an employment relationship with Unioeste;

VI - minimum intellectual production of two articles, with at least one article published in a journal registered in the Scielo, Scopus or JCR database, and the other may be an article published in the proceedings of a national or international conference of recognized importance in the last three years;

VII - having completed a supervision of an undergraduate student in the Scientific Initiation program in the last three years;

VIII - presentation of a proposal to work in the Program, including: detailed history of teaching and research activities in the last three years; subjects of the Political-Pedagogical Project of the program that the teacher is able to teach; new subjects that the teacher can offer in the program, explaining their inclusion in the research activities of the program; other information considered relevant by the teacher.

REGULATIONS OF THE GRADUATE PROGRAM IN ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING AND COMPUTER SCIENCE — MASTERS

CHAPTER I

OF THE CONSTITUTION AND OBJECTIVES

Art. 1 The Graduate Program in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (PGEEC), of the State University of Western Paraná, aims to train highly qualified masters to work both in educational institutions and in the industrial sector.

Art. 2 The PGEEC follows the general rules for the Graduate Study Programs of Unioeste, internal regulations and specific criteria of the Program, the General Regulations and the Statute of Unioeste, and the specific legislation of the Coordination for the Improvement of High-Level Personnel of Higher Education — Capes/MEC.

Art. 3 The PGEEC includes training at the Master's level organized in the Academic modality, aiming at technical and scientific mastery in the area of ​​Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and training human resources in the use of advanced tools and technologies, to promote the processes of creation, transformation, dissemination and application of acquired knowledge.

CHAPTER II

COORDINATION AND ADMINISTRATION OF THE PROGRAM

Art. 4 The didactic, pedagogical and administrative coordination of the PGEEC will be exercised by a collegiate body and a coordinator.

Section I

On the Programming Council

Art. 5 The Graduate Program Board is the body in charge of the didactic-pedagogical and administrative supervision of the Course, and its constitution must include:

I - the coordinator of the Board, as its president;

II - the coordinator's substitute;

III - permanent teachers;

IV - regular students of the Program.
§ 1 Professors must formally express their interest in participating in the Council, at the beginning of each academic year, or through the application submitted by the Program coordinator.
§ 2 Student representation is equivalent to, at most, 30% of the College's teaching staff, requiring a minimum quorum of one student.
§ 3 Annually, after the Data Collection Report has been sent to Capes, the Program Coordination sends the list with the names of the teachers to the Affected Center, for the purpose of issuing an ordinance. Registered as permanent and who elected to compose the Board of Directors, as well as the names of the students nominated by their peers to integrate the Board of Directors.
§ 4 The representative who does not comply with attending two consecutive meetings in any time interval or three alternating meetings, within the period of one year, without formal justification presented and approved by the Board, will be removed.

Art. 6 The Program Council meets, ordinarily, every two months, upon prior convocation by its coordinator and, extraordinarily, when convened by the coordinator or at the request of the simple majority of its members.
§ 1 The approval of the matters discussed occurs by a simple majority vote of those present at the meeting, observing the corresponding quorum.
§ 2 Decisions of the Programme Council, with regard to these Regulations and the General Regulations of the Programme, may be appealed directly to the Cepe, by sending them to the PRPPG, within ten days from the date of publication or from the date of knowledge of the decision by the interested party.
§ 3 Decisions of the Programme Council that are contrary to the provisions of these Regulations and the General Regulations of the Programme must be assessed by the Cepe.
§ 4 Other decisions of the Programme Board of Directors on issues not specified in these Regulations or in the General Regulations of the Programme, or other university legislation, will follow the procedural procedure established by the statute and/or regulations of Unioeste.

Art. 7 The Programme Council is responsible for:

I — defining the Programme's guidelines, with a view to the desired concept for each subsequent four-year period;

II — managing the work of teaching coordination and administrative supervision of the Programme;

III — evaluating and approving the teaching plans of the Programme's subjects;

IV — proposing the creation, modification or elimination of disciplines that make up the political-pedagogical project of the course;

V — evaluating and approving the use of studies, credit equivalence and exemption from subjects;

VI — proposing and guaranteeing the integration of postgraduate studies with undergraduate training;

VII — approving the list of director and co-director professors and their modifications;

VIII — must indicate, in the event of temporary removal of Unioeste supervisors and supervisors external to Unioeste, a co-supervisor belonging to the permanent staff of the Programme;

IX — approving the examination boards for the defence and qualification exam;

X — evaluate and propose agreements and terms of cooperation with public or private entities of interest to the Program;

XI — prepare and implement internal regulations that complement the general regulations of the Program;

XII — approve research projects, degree programs, and theses;

XIII — appoint representatives of the Program to the Center's Board of Directors and other boards and committees, when appropriate;

XIV — define criteria and make public the use of financial resources granted to the Program;

XV — define complementary criteria for the accreditation, permanence, and disaccreditation of members of the Program's teaching staff, in specific regulations, which must be evaluated by the Center's Board and by the Cepe;

XVI — analyze the academic performance of students and, if applicable, determine their withdrawal from the course;

XVII — decide, in cases of requests to resign from supervision, on the replacement of the supervisor;

XVIII — evaluate and deliberate on the commissions proposed by the coordination;

XIX — approve the results of the activities of the Scholarship Committee, as established by the scholarship regulations of the CAPES and other funding agencies;

XX — propose the redefinition of the lines of research and/or areas of concentration of the Program, being evaluated by the Council of the Center and by the Cepe;

XXI — evaluate and deliberate on the reports sent to the CAPES and other funding agencies;

XXII — propose the academic calendar of the Program, which will be sent to the Cepe;

XXIII — evaluate and deliberate on all notifications issued by the Program, except notices of meetings of the Collegiate;

XXIV — prepare all institutional projects that involve financial, structural and human resources;

XXV — authorize students of the Program to carry out research abroad or in the country, and accept students from foreign or national institutions to carry out research in the Program;

XXVI — other activities when requested by the PRPPG or the CAPES.

Sole paragraph. Decisions on the didactic-pedagogical structure of the Program must be approved by the Center Council, where applicable, and administrative decisions by the Campus Council.

Section II

Functions and Responsibilities of the Programme Coordinator

Art. 8 The Programme Coordinator is responsible for:

I — submitting to the corresponding Centre for approval any and all modifications to the internal regulations that occur in the Programme, after deliberation by the Board;

II — coordinating the Programme's activities, adopting the necessary measures for its development, with the aim of guaranteeing its quality in relation to the monitoring, evaluation and development bodies;

III — exercising administrative, academic and financial functions of the Programme;

IV — complying with the decisions of the Programme's Governing Council, policies and higher university postgraduate institutional bodies;

V — convening and chairing meetings of the Governing Council;

VI — submitting reports on the Programme's activities to the Vice-Rectorate for Research and Postgraduate Studies, as requested;

VII — safeguarding the Programme's interests before higher-level and sectoral bodies, and striving to obtain the necessary financial and human resources;

VIII — organize the distribution of disciplines and inform the Centers assigned to the respective responsible professor about the offer of the same;

IX — propose the creation of committees in the Program to represent the Program at all levels;

X — prepare and present an annual budget proposal for approval by the Center Council and the Campus Council;

XI — maintain contacts and understandings with national and international institutions and entities interested in collaborating with the development of the Graduate Program;

XII — issue a public call for registration, selection and enrollment of students, accreditation of teachers, among others, in accordance with the specific rules and criteria of the Program, and must be appreciated by the Board;

XIII — issue resolutions based on the deliberations of the Board;

XIV — preside over the qualifying or final defense panels, in the absence of the supervisor and co-supervisor;

XV — perform other functions assigned by the Board.

Section III

Of the Secretariat

Art. 9 The responsibilities of the Secretariat of the Program are:

I — to organize the data provided by professors and students for the Capes Data Collection;

II — to complete and submit the Capes Data Collection to the Vice-Rectorate of Research and Graduate Studies, annually;

III — to keep up to date with the Program in order to complete the Capes Data Collection;

IV — to keep the database of students and professors of the Program up to date;

V — to assist the scholarship committee with the documentation and selection of students applying for scholarships;

VI — to file the documents of students who receive or have received scholarships;

VII — to distribute and file all documents related to the teaching and administrative activities of the Program;

VIII — to keep professors and students informed about the resolutions of the Board of Directors and the Cepe;

IX — to publish notices, school calendars, schedules and other activities developed by the Program;

X — forward the candidates' documents to the selection committee for candidates enrolled as regular and special students of the Program;

XI — forward the notification to the academic control body containing the list of candidates selected for registration;

XII — arrange for the convening of meetings of the Program's Board of Directors;

XIII — disseminate the decisions of the Board of Directors;

XIV — provide the necessary documentation for purchases made with resources allocated to the Program;

XV — provide the necessary office supplies for the Program;

XVI — collaborate in the control and management of the administrative and financial resources received by the Program together with the coordinator;

XVII — keep professors and students informed about the regulations relating to postgraduate studies;

XVIII — receive, forward and control all necessary documentation regarding the Program requested by the Vice-Rector for Research;

XIX — inform students about the deadlines established for each activity;

XX — receive, forward and control documents related to the qualifying exam, thesis defense, foreign language proficiency exams and seminars;

XXI — collaborate with the coordinator in preparing the academic calendar of the Program for consideration by the Board of Directors;

XXII — collaborate in the proper functioning of the Program;

XXIII — carry out other related activities that are assigned to him/her.


CHAPTER III

ON THE FUNCTIONING OF THE PROGRAM

Section 1

Areas of Concentration and Lines of Research

Art. 10 The PGEEC has an area of ​​concentration called Electrical Systems and Computing and is organized into three lines of research:

  1. Electrical energy systems;
  2. Control, automation and computational intelligence;
  3. Biomedical systems.

 Section II

On the Political-Pedagogical Project and the Disciplines

Art. 11 The precepts referring to the political-pedagogical project and the disciplines follow the provisions of articles 15 and 19, respective paragraphs and subsections, of Resolution No. 078/2016-CEPE, of June 2, 2016, which approved the general rules of the Graduate Programs of the State University of Western Paraná (Unioeste).

Art. 12 The Program has a semester-based academic regime, with an academic year composed of the 1st and 2nd semester.

Art. 13 The minimum number of credits required in the Program is 48 (forty-eight), following the following distribution:
• 06 (six) credits in compulsory subjects;
• at least 18 (eighteen) credits in elective subjects of free choice;
• 24 (twenty-four) credits granted by the approval of the defense of the master's thesis.

Sole paragraph. Each credit of a discipline corresponds to fifteen hours of programmed activities, including theoretical-practical classes, seminars and special topics.

Art. 14 Use and/or equivalence of subjects: The criteria of the Program Committee may be accepted, provided that:

I — the Program taken has received, in the evaluation of the Capes, a concept equal to or greater than 3 (three);

II — the discipline is relevant to the Program's lines of research;

III — the grade obtained was at least “B”.
§ 1 The credits obtained in the course itself or in other courses internal or external to Unioeste, as a regular or special student, may be used in their entirety, at the discretion of the Program Board, provided that the minimum grade obtained in the discipline was “B”.
§ 2 Regarding credits obtained abroad, the Program Director is responsible for carrying out the evaluation.

Art. 15 The subjects may be taught in Portuguese, English or Spanish, according to the teaching plan.

Section III

On Teaching Internship

Art. 16 Teaching internship is an activity of the master's course and is mandatory when required by the regulatory bodies responsible for scholarships.
§ 1 Teaching internship must be carried out over a period of one semester, totaling 30 hours, without exceeding the workload of four hours per week, and not being counted in the total workload of the course.
§ 2 Participation of graduate students in teaching internship does not create an employment relationship and is not remunerated.
§ 3 The advisor must request the teaching internship from the Program Director, attaching a work plan prepared jointly with the professor responsible for the discipline in which the student will work, and submit it for approval by the respective Undergraduate Directorate or equivalent body of any higher education institution.
§ 4 The professor in charge of the discipline is responsible for accompanying, guiding and evaluating the student, issuing an opinion on his/her performance and recommending, or not, his/her approval to the Permanent Scholarship Committee of the Program, for subsequent approval by the Board.
§ 5 Students enrolled in internships are prohibited from: acting without supervision from the professor in the classroom, assuming all teaching activities or carrying out evaluations in the subjects to which they are linked.
§ 6 Higher education professors who prove such activities are exempt from teaching practice.
§ 7 Teaching practice activities must be compatible with the research areas of the PGEEC.


CHAPTER IV

On the Professors

Section I

On the Constitution

Art. 17 The provisions relating to the constitution of the teaching body follow the provisions of articles 23 to 31, respective paragraphs and subsections, of Resolution No. 078/2016-CEPE, of June 2, 2016, which approved the general regulations of the Graduate Programs of the State University of Western Paraná — Unioeste.

Section II

Accreditation, Permanence and Disaccreditation

Art. 18 The criteria for accreditation, permanence and disaccreditation follow the specific regulations of the PGEEC.

CHAPTER V

STUDENT BODY

Art. 19 The PGEEC student body is made up of regular and special students.
§ 1 Regular students are those selected according to the criteria of the public selection call, assessed by the College and duly registered.
§ 2 Special students are those selected according to the criteria of the public selection call, assessed by the College, and duly registered in the discipline, without the right to obtain a master's degree.
§ 3 The special student is subject, as applicable, to the Unioeste and Program regulations applicable to regular students, having the right to a certificate of approval in the subject, issued by the Academic Secretary.
§ 4 Special students may take a maximum of 50% of the credits required for the subject in question.
§ 5 The subjects suitable for receiving special students will be defined by the Board and made public in a specific Notice for the selection process for special students.


CHAPTER VI

VACANCIES, SELECTION, REGISTRATION, GUIDANCE AND EVALUATION

Section I

Vacancies

Art. 20 The number of admission places is set annually by the Program Board, based on the following factors:

I — number and category of supervising professors available in the areas of concentration and lines of research, observing the advisor/advisee ratio established by the Engineering IV evaluation area;

II — physical space and research infrastructure.

Sole paragraph. In the event of a change in the maximum limit of vacancies, the request must be made by the Program Board and approved by the Center Council and the Teaching, Research and Extension Council (Cepe).

Art. 21 The vacancies offered by the Program are published in a public call prepared by the coordination and evaluated by the Board, which must include selection criteria, deadlines and other information considered relevant.
§ 1 In the event of vacancies remaining, a new selection may be made within the time limits defined by the Program Management.
§ 2 Exceptional selections of regular students may be made at any time during the school year, at the discretion of the Program Board, through a specific public call, evaluated by the Board of Directors, respecting the maximum number of vacancies approved by the Cepe.
§ 3 During the selection process for regular students, vacancies are offered to a specific public, with the aim of satisfying institutional agreements and the qualifications of professionals from public and private companies and institutions, up to a limit of 10%.

Section II

Selection and Admission

Art. 22 When registering for the selection process, the candidate must present the following documents at the place indicated in the public selection notice:

I — Registration form via the Strict System;

II — copy of the identity card and CPF;

III — copy of the diploma or certificate of completion of the course with a recognized degree, or declaration of being enrolled in the last year or period of the undergraduate degree;

IV — copy of the undergraduate academic record;

V — other documents, as defined in the public notice of the Program's selection process.

Sole paragraph. In the case of foreign candidates, the specific regulations of Unioeste must be followed.

Art. 23 For the analysis and evaluation of candidates registered as regular or special students, the selection process is carried out in accordance with the internal regulations of the Program.
§ 1 The evaluation process, adopted by the Board of Directors of the Program, is reported in the public call for selection, which must provide the selection criteria, values ​​and weights of each item to be evaluated.
§ 2 Selection may be carried out outside the headquarters or remotely, under the conditions specified in the call for selection.

Section III

Registration

Art. 24 Students join the Program by registering for the course, which must be done in person at the Academic Secretary's Office indicated in the call for applications, in order to present the documents required in the selection call.
§ 1 During the course, the student registers, through the Stricto System, for the subjects and activities offered by the Program.
§ 2 The subjects and activities in which the student registers cannot be replaced or cancelled, and must be completed.

Art. 25 The student may request the suspension of registration, with due justification, which must have the consent of the supervisor and be approved by the Board of Directors.
§ 1 The suspension of registration does not suspend the calculation of time for the purposes of the maximum term of the degree.
§ 2 The period of suspension of registration may not exceed 180 days and may not exceed the maximum term of validity defined by the Program.

Art. 26 The registration of a subject by a student from another political-pedagogical project of the same Program or from another postgraduate Program, internal or external to Unioeste, will be subject to the same evaluation process as special students.
§ 1 At the discretion of the Program Director, the student, originating from another postgraduate program in a higher education institution, foreign or national, may be accepted to study a subject or carry out other academic activities, through the conclusion of an agreement.
§ 2 In the case provided for in § 1 of this article, the evaluation and the issuance of certificates is carried out according to the specificity of each activity, observing the rules of the Program and the terms of the agreement.
§ 3 External students must have insurance coverage against personal accidents, including medical and hospital expenses, permanent disability or death caused by accident, guaranteed, preferably, by the institution of origin or as provided in the clauses of the agreement.

Section IV

The Supervisor and Co-supervisor

Art. 27 The student is supervised by an advisory professor and, where applicable, co-supervisor(s), who hold a doctorate degree.

Art. 28 The supervisors and co-supervisors must have training and experience in the area of ​​project execution, and their instructions must be approved by the Program Board.

Art. 29 The duties of the supervising professor are:

I — to supervise and instruct the student in all academic, scientific and administrative aspects during his/her academic life;

II — to participate, as a natural member and president, in the defense and qualification courts, when applicable;

III — to request the Program Board to take the necessary measures for the holding of defense hearings and qualification examinations.

Art. 30 The co-director is responsible for:

I — collaborating in the preparation of the student's study plan and research project;

II — collaborating in the development of specific parts of the research project, at the discretion of the supervisor;

III — assume supervision of the student for a specified period, in the event of justified absence of the supervisor;

IV — assume supervision of the student, when indicated by the Program Director;

V — preside over examination committees in the absence of the supervisor.

Section V

Evaluation, Deadlines and Completions

Art. 31 The evaluation of the subjects and other activities expresses the student's level of performance, according to the following concepts:

I — Concept A — Excellent (90-100), with the right to credits;

II — Concept B — Good (80-89), with the right to credits;

III — Concept C — Average (70-79), with the right to credits;

IV — Concept D — Insufficient (< 70), without the right to credits;

V — Concept I — Incomplete, without the right to credits.
§ 1 Students who obtain grades A, B or C are considered to have passed the subjects.
§ 2 A student who obtains a grade of “D” in a compulsory subject must repeat it once, and the last grade obtained will appear on his or her academic record.
§ 3 If the subject in which the student obtained a grade of 'D' is not compulsory and is not offered during the period of completion of the course, he or she may choose another subject to complete the credits, provided that it is approved by the Board.
§ 4 The minimum attendance required for the subjects will be 75%.
§ 5 If the limit of absences is exceeded, the student will receive a grade of 'D'.
§ 6 The concept 'I' (incomplete) indicates the provisional situation of a student who, for a justified reason accepted by the professor of the respective subject, did not complete the required work, and can complete it within a period determined by the professor, not exceeding four months from the end of the subject.

Art. 32 In the event of maternity leave or serious health problem that occurs during the period of completion of an activity or subject, it is possible, as compensation for the absence, to provide exceptional help to students by assigning homework.
§ 1 The student must submit the application to the Program Coordinator, attaching a medical certificate.
§ 2 The Board is responsible for analyzing the application, in accordance with the documents submitted, and defining the type of home-based activity.
§ 3 If it is not possible to complete the assignments, at the student's request, the Board may suspend the course for the necessary period, which will not be included in the course completion deadline.

Art. 33 The student is withdrawn from the Graduate Program if one of the following hypotheses occurs:

I — Receiving more than one 'D' grade;

II — on his/her own initiative;

III — failure to prove mastery of a foreign language, under the conditions established in the Program regulations;

IV — failure to comply with the payment deadlines determined by the Program;

V — failure to comply with the deadline for the defense of the grade stipulated by the Program;

VI — failure to comply with the deadline for the defense of the thesis stipulated by the Program.
§ 1 The deadlines determined throughout the course may be flexible for students who participate in national or international agreements or other situations, at the discretion of the Program Director, except for the maximum deadline for the completion of the course.
§ 2 The decision to withdraw must be formally communicated to the student, the advisor and the Academic Secretary, by means of correspondence dated and signed by the Program Coordinator.
§ 3 In cases of dismissal by the Board, the student and the advisor must record their knowledge of the decision to dismiss in a dated document, with the acknowledgment of receipt (AR) of a letter sent by mail, with details of the document sent, being valid for these purposes.

Art. 34 The minimum and maximum duration of the master's course are 12 (twelve) and 24 (twenty-four) months, respectively, including approval in the defense of the master's dissertation.
§ 1 The deadline for completion of the course may be extended for a maximum of 12 (twelve) months.
§ 2 The extension is requested by the student with the consent of his/her supervisor, after duly justified justification, and is evaluated by the Board.
§ 3 The deadline for completion of the course as a regular student begins from the moment of registration for the course, which is carried out at the Academic Secretariat.
§ 4 Failure to comply with the deadlines defined in this regulation implies the withdrawal of the student, by act of the Board.

Section VI

Foreign Language

Art. 35 The student must demonstrate proficiency in the English language by submitting a certificate obtained in recognized tests from language institutes and/or educational institutions, as well as certificates issued in this or other Stricto Sensu programs recommended by CAPES, with a minimum grade of three.
§ 1 The validity of each certificate is analyzed by the collegiate.
§ 2 The student will be considered to have passed the proficiency exam if he/she meets the conditions for the acceptance of the certificates.

Art. 36 The English proficiency test may be submitted before the maximum deadline for completing the course.

Section VII

Qualifying Examination

Art. 37 Regular students of the Program must take the qualifying examination at the end of their third academic period.
§ 1 The Qualifying Examination consists of the written presentation of the Master's Dissertation Project and the defense before the examining committee, followed by the arguments of the members of the committee, in a public session.
§ 2 The examining committee for the qualifying examination shall be composed of at least three doctors, of whom at least two shall be professors of the program, one of whom shall be the supervisor.

Art. 38 It is the responsibility of the advisor, at least 15 days in advance, to request the Program Board to take the necessary measures for the conduct of the qualifying examination, indicating the composition of the committee and providing any other information that may be necessary.
§ 1 The supervisor's request must be accompanied by the following: printed copies of the qualifying work, in the amount of one copy for each member of the panel.
§ 2 The qualification work must be submitted in accordance with the technical standards defined by the Program in specific regulations.

Art. 39 The student who takes the qualification exam is considered to have “passed” or “failed”.
§ 1 In the event of failure, the student may take a new qualification exam, only once, within a maximum period of 30 days.
§ 2 Extraordinary cases of extension will be analyzed individually by the collegiate body, upon presentation of a formal justification by the advisor.

Section VIII

Scientific production test

Art. 40 Regular students must prove scientific production related to the research topic, compatible with the level of depth of a master's degree, being a requirement for the application for thesis defense. The conditions for the scientific test are defined by the program in specific regulations.

Section IX

On the Dissertation

Art. 41 In the thesis, the student must demonstrate mastery of the chosen topic, methodological rigor, research and systematization capacity, and the work must be linked to one of the research lines of the Program, observing the deadlines established in these Regulations.

Sole paragraph. The presentation of the thesis will only be allowed after the candidate has completed the required credits in the subjects, passed the qualifying exam and demonstrated scientific production linked to the research topic.

Art. 42 The composition of the thesis examination committee, as well as the date and time for the defense, must be requested by the advisor, at least 30 days in advance, and approved by the Board.
§ 1 The examination committee will be composed of at least three members, with the advisor being the president of the session.
§ 2 The members of the examination committees must have a university doctorate degree.
§ 3 The request from the examining board must contain at least two substitutes.
§ 4 A printed copy of the thesis must be submitted, one for each member of the panel.
§ 5 The dissertation must be presented in accordance with the technical standards defined by the program in specific regulations.
§ 6 The final copies of the thesis may be written in Portuguese, English or Spanish, with the consent of the supervisor.

Art. 43 The defense of the thesis consists of an oral presentation of the research developed by the student, followed by the examining committee, in a public session, or private when necessary.
§ 1 In the event that co-advisors participate in the committee, they will not be considered for the purposes of completing the minimum number of members required, and will not have the right to vote.
§ 2 The participation of the members of the qualification committee or thesis defense committee may be carried out by videoconference, through the various software/application options available for this modality.
§ 3 The use of videoconferencing technology must be recorded in the Minutes. If it is not possible to collect the signatures of the members with virtual participation, the opinion signed by said members must be attached to the Minutes.
§ 4 The qualification committee or final defense may be held outside the headquarters, provided that it is justified by the advisor and approved by the Board, and must be carried out with the physical participation of all members.

Art. 44 In the defense of the thesis, the student is considered to have "passed" or "failed", with the majority opinion prevailing.

Sole paragraph. Students who fail the test will have the opportunity to defend themselves again within a maximum period of three months, taking into account the maximum period for taking the course.

Art. 45 The student has a maximum period of ninety days to deliver the final copy to the Secretary of the Program, counting from the approval of the thesis by the examining board.
§ 1 The student, under the supervision of the advisor, must make adjustments to the final version, when required by the examining board.
§ 2 The supervisor is responsible for verifying the revision determined by the examining board in the final version of the dissertation, including in relation to the rules established by the Program.

Art. 46 The Master's degree is awarded after all the requirements set out in these regulations have been met and the corresponding version of the final dissertation has been submitted, approved by the Program Board, in accordance with current legislation.

Art. 47 The student must send to the Graduate Program a digital copy of the complete thesis, in a single file in RTF and PDF format, without protection.
§ 1 The student fills out the authorization, provided by the Graduate Program, for the publication of his/her thesis in the Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (BDTD).
§ 2 The graduate program sends a copy of the dissertation, a copy of the complete authorization and personal data of the student, advisor, co-advisor (if any) and members of the examination committee, to the campus library.
§ 3 The campus library is responsible for the technical work related to the inclusion of data in the Pergamon System and in the Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations.
§ 4 The graduate program begins the diploma application process after receipt from the campus library.

Section X

Degrees and Diplomas

Art. 48 To obtain a master's degree, the student must have fulfilled, within the allowed period, the following requirements:

I — obtaining minimum credits in the subjects;

II — passing the qualifying exam;

III — English proficiency test;

IV — scientific production test related to the master's thesis;

V — defense and approval of the thesis;

VI — delivery of the final version and approval by the Board and other necessary documents, in accordance with current legislation.

Art. 49 Once the necessary procedures to obtain a master's degree have been completed, the Academic Secretariat opens the procedure and sends it to the sector responsible for issuing the degree, following the specific regulations.

Sole paragraph. Diplomas with double certification may be issued following specific regulations.

CHAPTER VIII

PROGRAM MAINTENANCE

Section I

Financial Resources

Art. 50 The provisions relating to financial resources shall be governed by the provisions of articles 67 to 70, respective paragraphs and subsections, of Resolution No. 078/2016-CEPE, dated June 2, 2016, which approved the general rules for the Graduate Programs of the State University of Western Paraná — Unioeste.

Section II

Granting of Scholarships

Art. 51 In order to grant scholarships to students of graduate programs, compliance with the requirements of the funding agencies and the Program's Scholarship Committee is required.

Sole paragraph. The granting of scholarships is carried out by the Scholarship Committee and must be approved by the Program Board.

Art. 52 In order to apply for a scholarship, in addition to the documents required by the funding agencies, the candidate must comply with the specific regulations and public calls for applications for the Program.

Art. 53 Failure in any subject that generates credit, due to insufficient grades or attendance, determines the cancellation of the scholarship.

Sole paragraph. Additional requirements for the granting, maintenance and renewal of the subsidy, in accordance with the recommendations of the development agencies, are defined in specific regulations.

Art. 54 The possibility of developing any remunerated activity by the scholarship student is defined in the specific regulations.

 

CHAPTER VIII

GENERAL PROVISIONS

Art. 55 These regulations apply as of 2020.

Art. 56 Students who entered before the 2020 academic year will continue to be governed by the regulations applicable to them until the end of the course.

Art. 57 Omitted cases are referred to the Program Board.
